The Original New Jersey Sloppy Joe
Put away that can of Manwich—this is a real man’s sandwich. Town Hall Deli opened in 1927 and made a name for itself after creating the New Jersey-style Sloppy Joe. The sandwich was named after a bar in Cuba that the original owner visited in the ‘30s. So enlightened by the sandwich that he had in Cuba, he brought the idea back home, and it was an instant hit.
This baby’s got two types of meat (usually roast beef and turkey), topped with cheese, all smothered in Town Hall’s coleslaw and Russian dressing, both using original recipes and homemade mayo. It’s all sandwiched between 3 thin slices of Pullman rye bread the length of an entire loaf. We won't judge if you needed to call up your boys for some backup.
