Romano's Original Stromboli

Home of The Original Stromboli, Since 1944

Romano’s was founded by 'Grandpop' Nazzereno Romano in 1944, as a quaint shop specializing in tomato pie, a Philadelphia specialty. In late 1949, he began experimenting with a new type of sandwich, rolling up Italian meats, cheeses, and bell peppers with his secret recipe dough and baking it up until golden brown. It was an instant hit, but it remained nameless until a customer suggested naming it after a scandalous new movie: Stromboli.

Today, Romano’s is the oldest family-owned and-operated Italian restaurant in Delaware County. Over the years Romano’s creation has taken on a life of its own, popping up in pizzerias across the land, but this is the original Stromboli, the one, the only, still made according to Grandpop’s original recipe. And lucky you, it now comes with a wide variety of fillings (including Philly cheesesteak, of course), and they’re shipping right to your door.
