Cowgirl Creamery makes cheese with heart. In 1997, they started with a dream shared between two college friends and business partners, Sue Conley and Peggy Smith: To celebrate organic practices and spotlight the craftsmanship of local sustainable agriculture in Marin and Sonoma counties. Today, they’re proud to be an icon in the industry, carrying the torch of the food revolution that started in their backyard. Organic. Farm-to-Table. Delicious, award-winning cheese. It’s in their DNA. And it defines their famous creations, including the beloved triple cream Mt Tam.

This package serves 4-6 people and includes 4 Signature Cheeses plus more

  • Wagon Wheel (6 oz.) – Born from the sunshine of California’s rolling golden hills, Wagon Wheel is our most versatile and snackable cheese. At room temperature, it’s approachable and delicious. When melted, we call it Liquid Gold. Designed by chefs for chefs (originally on Zuni Cafe’s pizza menu), Wagon Wheel is a washed rind cheese crafted from organic cow’s milk and aged for a minimum of 75 days.
  • Harbison Mini (5 oz.) – A pocket-sized version of Jasper Hill’s classic Harbison, a soft-ripened cheese with a rustic, bloomy rind. Young cheeses are wrapped in strips of spruce cambium, the tree’s inner bark layer, harvested from the woodlands of Jasper Hill. The spoonable texture begins to develop in their vaults, though the paste continues to soften on the way to market. Harbison is woodsy and sweet, balanced with lemon, mustard, and vegetal flavors.
  • Old World Cheddar (5 oz.) – Old World Aged Cheddar is made in the traditional English style and remains our most popular and highly awarded cheese. It is firm, yet crumbly with a robust and buttery taste. During the 14-month aging process the wheels are wrapped in a cheesecloth to protect the outermost layer while allowing the cheese to breathe and develop internally. It is straw colored and has a nutty, slightly smoky, and earthy finish.
  • Buttermilk Blue® (4 oz.) – Unlike most blue cheeses, Buttermilk Blue uses a higher butterfat content, resulting in a smoother and creamier texture. Matured in Roth’s cellars for at least two months, it’s delicately laced with blue veins, and is tangy yet mellow. It’s also great for cooking and it crumbles easily to make a perfect addition to salads, pizzas, dips, and burgers. It will also pair well with sweeter wines and dark, yeasty beers, as well as gin.
  • Cowgirl Crackers (6 oz.) – The neighbors at Rustic Bakery craft these organic crackers just for us, make with sea salt, olive oil and sourdough starter.
  • Pear Mostarda (6 oz.) – Mostarda is an Italian condiment, hundreds of years old, that combines preserved fruit with the heat from mustard oil.
  • Italian Dry Salame (2.5 oz.) – As classic as classic gets, this Italian Dry Salame is seasoned with sea salt, black pepper, garlic and white wine.
