Back in 1956, Bern and Gert Laxer opened a 40-seat Tampa restaurant that proved to be so successful that they expanded into adjoining shops. Over the years Bern’s grew to encompass eight dining rooms with 350 seats – and became Tampa’s most famous restaurant, with countless accolades and the reservation book filling up months in advance. Today, their legacy of incredible steaks and warm hospitality is carried on by their son, David, and Bern’s is one of the world’s most renowned and legendary steak houses, named the best steak house in America by several outlets and winning James Beard Awards and the Wine Spectator Grand Award of Excellence.
