The Pioneer of Buffalo Style Pizza

Picasso’s Pizza is the true OG of Buffalo Style pizza. Each rectangular pie has a light and crispy crust, and is loaded with locally-made mozzarella, sweet tomato sauce, and hand-cut pepperoni cups charred to perfection. Since opening their first location over 40 years ago, they've become a Buffalo staple, but their pizza legacy goes back a lot farther than that.

The DiGiore family’s Western New York roots were planted in 1915, when their grandpa Fioravante arrived in Buffalo from his native Naples, Italy. It was a hard time to be an immigrant. While he secured a job as a laborer installing streetcar tracks, Fioravante endured many a taunt from co-workers. As the jabs continued, he decided he would never work for anyone but himself again. He and his wife Maria began making Italian cookies, pastries, and candies, along with pizza in their home, and sold to local stores and on the streets. They passed their expertise down through the generations, and their memory is still at the core of Picasso's Pizza today.

The DiGiores hold onto their grandpa’s values of quality and service, not to mention the original recipes for his dough and sauce. They even hand-cut all of their pepperoni, the same way Fioravante did over a century ago. It’s not just a slogan, they really are Buffalo pizza.
