Let the Danish have their flat Danishes and the French keep their flimsy croissants. If you want to do breakfast the American way, you’re gonna need some fried dough. Enter the doughnut. More specifically, Dutch Monkey Doughnuts.
Dutch Monkey’s doughnuts are each made from scratch, individually fried, glazed and hand decorated--a process that starts everyday at 3 a.m. This mom and pop shop displays true culinary talent with creations like raspberry glazed sprinkled with pistachios. For owners Martin and Arpana, it’s all about making the best doughnut ever--and their backgrounds certainly help. Martin spent most of his career at Gotham Bar and Grill in New York, while his wife, Arpana, has a resume that includes big names like Bobby Flay’s Mesa Grill and Tom Colicchio’s Craft.
Plain old frosted with sprinkles just got served.
