Come one, come all to Madame ZuZu’s Emporium, a mom & pop shop unlike any other! Madame ZuZu’s is a vegan restaurant, tea shop, and performance space in Highland Park, Illinois, founded in 2012 by Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan and his wife, fashion designer Chloe Mendel. Since its founding, it’s grown into a nationally recognized tea brand, renowned for its rare and exclusive blends, and the cafe’s menu features comfort foods made with wholesome, plant-based ingredients. Reminiscent of a 1930s tea salon, Madame ZuZu’s is a grand, Art Deco space that’s become a beloved cornerstone of the North Shore community.

  • Lemon Berry Meritage – Blend of the finest lemon leaves and lemon peels imported from Australia, Morocco, Egypt, France, and Japan is added to our berry Meritage, a blend of currants, blueberries, hibiscus, raisins, and cherries. The result is a lemon berry infusion with a natural sweetness and amazing aroma. Like the finest adult fruit punch!
  • Bourbon Vanilla Chai – A delicious blend of high mountain black teas, chopped Tahitian vanilla bean, Guatemalan ginger, green cardamom, Mekong and Ceylon cinnamon, coriander, cloves, black pepper and calendula petals. A carefully crafted balance of sweet and spicy.
  • Soothing Sunshine Ginger Turmeric – This sunny, bright tisane combines all the digestive benefits of organic ginger and the antioxidant, immune-boosting powers of organic turmeric. Enjoy this zesty elixir hot or on ice (try with a squeeze of lemon.)
  • French Kissed Moroccan Mint – The finest organic dragonwell green tea blended with rare, biodynamic spearmint, biodynamic peppermint, and aromatic wild-grown lavender from Provence. The result is a natural sweetness with a haunting aroma of mint and fragrant lavender.

To Serve

Grandma Jojo’s Vegan Meatball Sub

  • Toast the torta bread in oven at 500° F, for 2 minutes.
  • To heat the meatballs, cut the meatballs in half and reheat in microwave for 1:45 minutes.
  • Heat sauce in the microwave for 1:30 minutes.
  • After toasting the bread and heating the meatballs and sauce, carefully put a spoon full of sauce inside the bread, then put meatballs and the rest of the sauce on the meatballs, finish with the Vegan Parmesan cheese.
  • Enjoy!

Tofu Banh Mi Sandwich

  • Toast the torta bread in oven at 500° F, for 2 minutes.
  • Reheat Tofu in the microwave for 1 minute.
  • After toasting the bread and heating the Tofu, pour the miso aioli in the torta bread, then add the red Cabbage, Jalapeno, Cucumbers, Daikon/Carrots, and top with cilantro.
  • Enjoy!

Vegan Carrot Lox Toast

  • Toast the bread in a toaster at 350° F for 2 minutes.
  • Lather Vegan Cream Cheese on each side of the bread, making sure to spread evenly.
  • Take the slices of carrots and try to arrange them in a circle shape, put 4 slices of carrot on every slice. Take the Cucumbers and put some inside of the carrots, and some next to the carrots, add capers on top of both slices.
  • Enjoy!

Tea

  • Boil water, and let the water sit for 1-2 minutes so it gets to the perfect temperature. Boiling hot water is a little too hot for tea and can burn the gentle leaves (your tea tin has specific information on the perfect tea brewing temperature for your specific tea)
  • Steep for 3-5 minutes. You can easily re-steep your tea by adding 1 minute to each additional infusion. You can get about 3-4 great infusions per serving.
