The original Commissary, in Germantown, Tennessee, was a small country store for over 90 years, selling everything from blue jeans to bologna, until Walker Taylor bought it in 1981 and transformed the historic building (located about a 20 minute drive from downtown Memphis) into one of the best barbecue joints in America.
