Corropolese Bakery
Famous Tomato Pie since 1924
Unlike, say, Buffalo wings, tomato pie is one of those regional specialties that hasnāt gained much recognition outside of its ancestral homeland; in this case, Eastern Pennsylvania. But donāt call it pizza: tomato pie may resemble your standard Sicilian pie, but it differs in a few key ways: if there's any cheese itās a sprinkling of Romano or Parmesan, itās found at Italian bakeries instead of pizza joints, and itās served at room temperature.
Corropolese Italian Bakery & Deli has been crafting a wide variety of breads, rolls, cakes, pastries and tomato pies since way back in 1924, and itās still family-run all these years later. Their signature tomato pie is light, airy and crisp, topped with aged Romano and a famous sweet homemade red sauce. Itās a true artisan-made regional delicacy, and now thereās no need to travel to experience it.
