Nakamura has become renowned for his tsukemen, or “dipping ramen,” a deep and rich sauce with noodles on the side for dunking. Chashu pork, spinach, and bamboo shoots are also included!
Chef Shigetoshi “Jack” Nakamura is what you might call a ramen savant. He opened Nakamura-Ya in his native Japan at the ripe old age of 22, and it proved to be so popular that he was hailed as a “Ramen God.” After decamping to America, he partnered with Sun Noodle (the makers of some of the best ramen noodles on earth) for a residency at their NYC “Ramen Lab,” where his creations were also met with heaps of acclaim, and in 2016 he opened Nakamura on New York’s Lower East Side.
