M&P Biancamano, in historic Hoboken, New Jersey, is a true hidden neighborhood gem just across the Hudson River from New York City. Cash-only and with no website, this beloved Italian deli is one of those places that locals rave about and in-the-know tourists take the ferry over from Manhattan to visit. Founded in 1981 by Mario, Giovannina, Pietro and Teresa Biancamano and today run by Pietro and Teresa (who can still usually be found behind the counter), M&P is renowned for its homemade fresh mozzarella (lovingly referred to as “mutz” in these parts) and huge Italian sandwiches.

At M&P, they pride themselves on making everything (from the melt-in-your-mouth mozzarella to roasted peppers and sundried tomatoes) from scratch, their Italian meats are of the highest possible quality, and all bread is baked fresh at a local bakery.
